Day 1: Journey into the Wild
Your adventure begins at El Puente, where you’ll board a canoe for a scenic 3-hour trip down the Cuyabeno River. As you float deeper into the jungle, our expert guides will introduce you to the incredible flora and fauna surrounding you. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys, tropical birds, and—if nature allows—the rare pink river dolphin.
Upon arrival at Pillpintu Jungle Residence, enjoy a fresh local lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll hike to our observation tower for breathtaking panoramic views of the Amazon canopy. As dusk falls, we’ll explore the riverbanks to listen to the symphony of the jungle before embarking on a night walk to discover the forest’s nocturnal secrets. Dinner will be served back at the lodge.
Day 2: Culture & Canoes
After breakfast, we immerse ourselves in the heritage of the Siona community. You will visit a local family and a Shaman to learn about their ancient traditions and spiritual practices. You’ll also see firsthand how local artisans craft intricate earrings, necklaces, and shigras (woven bags), and even participate in making casabe (traditional yuca bread).
After lunch back at the huts, we’ll board a motorized canoe to explore the Laguna Grande. We’ll trek through the primary forest, where our guides will reveal the secrets of medicinal plants and the complex ecosystem of the jungle. We’ll end the day floating on the lagoon to witness a spectacular Amazonian sunset, followed by a thrilling nighttime boat ride to spot caimans glowing in the dark waters.
Day 3: Sunrise Symphony
Rise early at 6:00 AM for a final sunrise canoe session—the best time to spot active wildlife and vibrant birdlife along the river. After a hearty farewell breakfast, we depart from the lodge at 9:00 AM. We’ll head back to El Puente to catch your bus returning to Quito.
