Day 1: Arrival & The Journey Inbound

Meet at El Puente for a scenic 3-hour canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River. As you navigate the water, your guides will provide an introduction to the local flora and fauna. Upon arrival at Pillpintu Jungle Residence, enjoy a fresh lunch. In the afternoon, relax by the river to soak in the sights and sounds of the jungle—listen for monkeys and bird calls, and keep a lookout for the elusive pink river dolphins. The day concludes with an adventurous night walk before dinner.A

Day 2: Cultural Immersion & Canopy Views

After breakfast, we immerse ourselves in the heritage of the Siona community. You will visit a local family and a Shaman to learn about their ancient traditions and spiritual practices. You’ll also see firsthand how local artisans craft intricate earrings, necklaces, and shigras (woven bags), and even participate in making casabe (traditional yuca bread).

After lunch back at the huts, we’ll board a motorized canoe to explore the Laguna Grande. We’ll trek through the primary forest, where our guides will reveal the secrets of medicinal plants and the complex ecosystem of the jungle. We’ll end the day floating on the lagoon to witness a spectacular Amazonian sunset, followed by a thrilling nighttime boat ride to spot caimans glowing in the dark waters.

Day 3: Laguna Grande & Nocturnal Discovery

Today, we head deep into the reserve by motorized canoe to visit the “Laguna Grande.” We will hike through primary terra firma forest, where guides will share insights on medicinal plants and the complex ecosystem. After the hike, enjoy a spectacular sunset over the lagoon. We return to the lodge after dark, using spotlights to search for caimans along the riverbanks.

Day 4: Morning Serenity & Departure

Start your final day at 6:00 AM with a sunrise birdwatching session on the river—the best time to spot active wildlife. After returning to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, we depart at 9:00 AM. A canoe will take you back to El Puente for your onward journey to Quito.
