Zancudo Cocha and Lagarto Cocha Amazon
Day 1:
Our tour begins at 09:30 in Lago Agrio, Coca or Shushufindi. We travel by bus/pickup to Tierras Orientales (2 hours) and have lunch afterwards.
Then we start our canoe journey down the Aguarico River and continue along the Zabalo water river, to our Lodge. (2 ½ hours aprox.)
In the evening we go for a walk through the surrounding. After dinner our naturalist bilingual guide gives us a briefing about our trip.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we make an early start travelling by motorized canoe to go along the Aguarico River, deeper into dense jungle to our second campsite located on the entrance of Zancudococha community. After reaching our second campsite we put up our tents.
In the evening we will go for a night walk enjoying the sounds of the jungle. After our walk, we enjoy our dinner.
Day 3:
After breakfast we continue downstream the Aguarico river to reach the confluence with the Lagartococha river. We head to our camp site situated deep in remote jungle along Lagartococha river We put up our tents at our third campsite, accessing the flooded area where we discover some lagoons connected by Black water Rivers. Here you admire a different ecosystem which exists in the flooded forest or varzea region, with a good chance visit the Imuya lake. We have our box lunch. In the afternoon we enjoy swimming in the Delfin Cocha lake while observing some freshwater pink dolphins swimming close to us. dinner.
Day 4:
Full day after breakfast we have a short treek in to the forest to see de flora and fauna, lunch and in the afternoon we will visit the Garza Cocha Lagoon, dinner
Day 5:
We enjoy an early activity before our breakfast. We explore with a full excursion, by motor canoe upstream Lagartococha River; it is the limit border with Peru.
After breakfast our naturalist guide takes us to a different ecosystem, Terra Firme forest, where we hike into pristine primary rainforest.
We continue our excursion by motor canoe that ends in a remote Secoya Community where Peruvian and Ecuadorian indigenous live together.
We have our box Lunch. While the local guide shows us their customs which their ancestors have taught throughout generations, a secoya woman offers us the bread of the jungle a traditional preparation with yucca.
Later we return to our campsite. After dinner, we venture out on a night excursion to search for Caimans (alligator family).
Day 6:
Early in the morning we enjoy birdwatching. After breakfast we start our way back down the Lagartococha river. We have another box lunch. In the afternoon we navigate back Aguarico River, where we reach Zancudococha campsite, enjoy the sunset in the jungle. Finally, we have dinner.
Day 7:
After breakfast, we navigate upstream Aguarico River. We enjoy a box lunch. On the way we stop at riverside villages from the Cofan local community to see their handicrafts. Finally, we return to the first camp site in Zabalo area. Here we have some time to relax and enjoy dinner.
You can take an optional night walk.
Day 8:
After breakfast you prepare your luggage for your trip back. We navigate along Cuyabeno River towards to the Aguarico River until Tierras Orientales. After lunch with a local Secoya family, we continue our canoe trip, and after our bus/pickup will take us to Lago Agrio, Coca or Shushufindi, arriving in 15h00 aprox. This is the end of our services. Final departure flight/bus to Quito.
